Bipartisan Policy Center to Host Discussion with New National Coordinator for Health IT Farzad Mostashari
Discussion will be moderated by former Senators Tom Daschle and Bob Bennett
WASHINGTON, April 25, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bipartisan Policy Center's (BPC) Health Project will host a dialogue on health information technology (IT) with Farzad Mostashari, MD, ScM, the recently named National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), tomorrow, April 26, 2011 at 11:00AM in Washington, D.C.
In one of his first appearances as National Coordinator, Dr. Mostashari will discuss ongoing efforts to coordinate and implement health IT and the electronic exchange of health information. Dr. Mostashari assumed the role of National Coordinator on April 8, 2011. The discussion will be moderated by former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, Co-Leader of the BPC's Health Project, and BPC Senior Fellow and former Senator Bob Bennett. Janet Marchibroda, Chair of the Health IT Initiative at the BPC, will give opening remarks. Following the discussion, Dr. Mostashari and Senators Daschle and Bennett will take questions from the audience.
The BPC's Health Project was launched in January 2011. In addition to Senator Daschle, the Project is led by former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and former South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds and Ohio Governor Ted Strickland.
