LOS ALTOS, Calif., Dec. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Bioz, Inc., developers of the world's first search engine for scientific experimentation, today announced that its co-founder and chief scientific officer, Dr. Karin Lachmi, has been awarded the C-Suite of the Year Award by the Silicon Valley Business Journal. The C-Suite of the Year Awards honor the region's top C-suite executives who have demonstrated strong leadership for their company and the surrounding community.
"I am honored to be named alongside so many influential leaders in one of the most innovative areas in the country," said Dr. Lachmi. "As a woman in a male-dominated profession, it is also very uplifting to see that nearly half of the winners are women. My hope is that this recognition, and the collective efforts of my peers, will inspire young women with entrepreneurial aspirations to aim high and know that there is a community of women who will provide the necessary support, mentorship and networking to succeed."
Dr. Lachmi co-founded Bioz to accelerate scientific research and drug discovery. The Bioz cloud platform is the world's first search engine built for life science experimentation. The patent-pending cloud platform combines the work of scientists with advanced natural language processing (NLP), machine learning and AI technologies to help life scientists in academia and biopharma make faster and smarter experimentation decisions, ultimately accelerating drug discovery and increasing the rate of success in finding cures for diseases.
Dr. Lachmi was included in the "Other C-Suite" category and is one of 10 executives selected for the C-Suite award, with honorees spanning various industries. Each candidate was judged on his or her contribution to company success, civic involvement, career achievement and more.
In September, Dr. Lachmi was recognized by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and the San Francisco Business Times as one of their Upstart 50 award winners in the "Inventor" category. In March, Dr. Lachmi was named to the Silicon Valley Business Journal's Women of Influence 2017 List and in November 2016, Dr. Lachmi was announced as a Silver award winner for the 13th Annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
This accolade continues Bioz's notable company momentum over the past year. Shortly following its one million global user milestone in August, Bioz announced a new algorithm to its suite of objective star ratings for life science tools in September. In November, the company also expanded its executive team by bringing on Sarah Steele Chang as vice president of sales. Sarah joined the company from Yelp where she most recently served as a regional vice president and led the team that secured $150 million in annual revenue.
