Biosign off to the races, enters multi-year technical partnership with AIM Autosport
TORONTO, May 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Biosign Technologies Inc. (CNSX:BIO) ("Biosign" or the "Company") and AIM Autosport ("AIM") announced today a multi-year technical partnership for enhancing driver performance and safety in the motor sport industry.
Modern racing demands top conditioning of car and driver. Fine tuning the vehicle involves advanced test and diagnostic technologies. Under this agreement, Biosign will address the other side of the equation - fine tuning the driver's health.
Fine tuning a driver's response to stress requires precise observation and detailed analysis of key physiological variables such as blood pressure, heart rate, and blood glucose. Measuring and analyzing these variables in people exposed to significant g forces and temperatures exceeding 100F provides unique opportunities for improving and expanding Biosign's health monitoring services to include diet, endurance, heat, and exhaustion management.
"In the years AIM has been racing, driver performance has always been a key issue in our success on the race track," commented AIM's Team Principal Ian Willis. "Once we entered the field of endurance racing, we had to take note of the many parameters that can affect the driver's performance under adverse conditions including heat, dehydration, physical stress and fatigue. We have a number of systems in place to address those issues but our partnership with Biosign will allow AIM to enhance the driver's condition before, during and following on-track sessions. With Biosign, we now have the monitoring abilities and backup data to provide us a better understanding of the stress experienced by our drivers, which will help us compete against some of the best race drivers in the world."
Biosign's UFIT health monitoring system will be used initially to address fitness and health evaluation issues. Radu Leca, Biosign's president, noted: "The focus on preventing injuries and ill health in sports will boost our profile in this very important area of health care. We are delighted that AIM chose us to test, validate, and provide advanced health monitoring services, using the experience and solutions we already have in this arena."
Under the partnership, AIM will be marketing and creating brand awareness for Biosign in one of the fastest growing sports in America. Biosign branding will be prominent on the AIM # 61 Ford Riley as it competes in the "GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask # 16". The first race featuring the Biosign branding is scheduled for May 31st, 2010 at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut and can be seen on SPEED TV live at 2:00pm (ET).
