BioPhotas Inc. and Road 2 Recovery Foundation Team Up to Support "The Legends of the Road" in The Race Across America
ANAHEIM, Calif., May 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- BioPhotas, Inc. announced today that it is teaming up with Road 2 Recovery Foundation in supporting the Legends of the Road in their attempt to Race Across America, bringing awareness for their cause. The Legends, David Bailey (55), Doug Henry (48), Micky Dymond (52), and Jeff Ward (55), are not your typical competitors.
On June 17th, starting off in Oceanside, California, they will ride a little over 3,000 miles, climb 175,000 feet, and cross 12 states to reach the finish line in Annapolis, Maryland, participating in the Race Across America (RAAM). And they will do it in just nine days. The team is comprised of multi-time AMA Supercross / Motocross champions, World Champions, and Motorcycle Hall of Fame members. However, their accolades as athletes are not what set this team apart. What distinguishes the Legends is the fact that half of the team have suffered permanent spinal cord injuries and will be competing on hand-cycles.
In addition to making a $5,000 donation to the Road 2 Recovery's charitable efforts, BioPhotas will be providing $10,000 worth of light therapy products to the four Legends of the Road to assist with their training and race efforts. Commenting on the collaboration, Patrick Johnson, President & CEO of BioPhotas said, "We are very excited to be teaming up with the Road 2 Recovery Foundation and the Legends of the Road, assisting them with their efforts to support injured elite athletes. David, Doug, Micky and Jeff are legends in their own rights and helping other injured athletes is an extraordinary way to give back to the motor sports world in which they all excelled."
BioPhotas manufactures the Celluma Series of light therapy devices, which are FDA-cleared to treat a variety of skin, muscle and joint conditions. In the case of the Legends, the Celluma will assist in decreasing the effects of muscle exertion, speeding the recovery from muscle fatigue and help prevent musculoskeletal injury. Commenting on the Company's product support, Jimmy Button, a former professional motocross racer and the Founder of Road 2 Recovery stated, "I have been using this type of therapy for years and continue to find it crucial to my ongoing recovery. To now have the Celluma onboard with the Legends-RAAM effort is huge and I am so happy that all four guys will get to enjoy the benefits while training for and racing this brutal event."
Based on NASA research, the Celluma Series delivers blue, red and near-infrared light energy to safely address a wide variety of musculoskeletal aches and pains. Each wavelength is absorbed by different molecules, which act as a signaling mechanism for different cellular processes. The Celluma's unique flexible design and extra large light panel facilitates effective energy absorption by tissue and molds closely to the body for more effective outcomes. The Celluma is FDA-cleared to treat eight separate skin, muscle and joint conditions. In addition, the Celluma is CE-Certified as a Dermal Wound Healing device of sale in the European Union.
