Biogal-Galed Labs Announces the Commercialization of Two New PCRun™ Veterinary Molecular Detection Kits
KIBBUTZ GALED, Israel, February 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Biogal Galed Labs, a global leader of veterinary diagnostic solutions, has announced the commercialization of two new PCRun™ Veterinary Molecular Detection Kits.
Biogal has now announced the launch of the feline Mycoplasma haemofelis and canine Anaplasma platys PCRun™ molecular detection test kits.
This is now in addition to the three previously commercialized PCRun™ molecular detection test kits for canine Leptospira, Ehrlichia canis and Leishmania.
While the accuracy and sensitivity of veterinary PCR testing has been undeniable, to date the conventional PCR testing procedure requires multiple steps, via expensive, time consuming and complicated devices called thermocyclers.
For a veterinary lab to even set up a PCR lab, they need to spend tens of thousands of dollars.
Now with PCRun™, veterinary professionals purchase components of the PCRun kit for a fraction of the price and run the test at a fraction of the time.
Biogal's PCRun™ is a molecular detection test kit that simply makes Polymerase Chain Reaction testing (PCR) more accessible and affordable to all veterinary professionals.
In a recent study the PCRun™ Canine Pathogenic Leptospira Molecular Detection Kit was compared to Leptospira real time PCR as performed in Professor Ron Schultz's Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory:
"This study showed a high level of sensitivity and specificity and excellent correlations between the test methods for most blood and urine samples. The PCRun had the advantage of not being negatively affected by the presence of heparin as an anticoagulant. Neither the real time PCR, nor the PCRun detected non-pathogenic Leptospira."
