Joining Eating Disorder Hope will be Dena Cabrera, Psy.D., CEDS, Kimberly Dennis, MD & Jessica Setnick, MS, RD, to discuss the many facets of Binge Eating Disorder:
Dena Cabrera, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified eating disorder specialist at the Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders, where she is serves as the executive clinical director. She states: "Binge Eating Disorder is one of the most misunderstood and thus under diagnosed eating disorders. Yet it remains the most prevalent eating disorder affecting men and women, boys and girls. Society's view on weight and dieting contributes to the under diagnosing of this disorder. It is a serious mental illness that needs to be recognized and treated by a multidisciplinary team." Cabrera is a well-known expert, speaker and author in the field; she will be awarding one signed copy of her book The Mom in the Mirror: Body Image, Beauty and Life After Pregnancy during the Google Hangout to an attendee.
Kim Dennis, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorder treatment, addictions recovery, trauma / PTSD and co-occurring disorders, and presenter, states: "Binge eating disorder (BED) is by far the most common of all eating disorders, and is also, sadly, one of the most misunderstood by lay people and medical professionals alike." As CEO & Medical Director of Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, she supervises the medical staff and sets the overall vision and direction for the treatment program. She incorporates biological, psycho-social and spiritual approaches into the individually tailored treatment plan for each. Dr. Dennis and Timberline Knolls will be awarding a signed copy of Jena Morrow's book "Hope for the Hollow" to one Google Hangout participant.
Jessica Setnick, MS, RD, CEDRD is a Senior Fellow at Remuda Ranch at The Meadows, and owner of Congruence Consulting and EatingDisorderJobs.com, states: "Binge eating, like other dysfunctional eating behaviors, is a visible sign of something more complex. That is why weight loss methods will never be a cure." A Certified Eating Disorder Dietitian and CEDRD Supervisor, as well as co-founder of IFEDD, the International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians, Jessica is the author of The Eating Disorder Clinical Pocket Guide and Eating Disorders Boot Camp and will be awarding these items to a Google Hangout participant.
