Bill Krouse Named 2015 Grand Champion At Minnesota Truck Driving Championships
MINNEAPOLIS, June 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At the annual Minnesota Truck Driving Championships, Bill Krouse, professional truck driver for YRC Freight, was named the 2015 Grand Champion.
The Grand Champion award is presented to the driver with the largest spread of points over the average of their class competitors after two days of competition. Throughout those two days, drivers must navigate through a six-problem obstacle course, complete a written knowledge test and perform a pre-trip inspection where they identify safety defects planted on a tractor-trailer.
This isn't the first high honor Bill has received this year. This past January, he was named the 2014 Minnesota Driver of the Year for his excellent safety record, including more than 2.2 million miles accident free.
"To be named the Minnesota Driver of the Year is a great honor and achievement. To also receive the Grand Champion Award in the same year is an even bigger accomplishment. Not only is Bill an excellent driver through his safety record, he has also proven that he can navigate his way through a challenging competition against some of the best drivers in the state," said John Hausladen, MTA president.
This will be the fifth year that Bill has placed first in his competing class. He's placed as high as 12th at Nationals, won Rookie of the Year in 2004 and won the Howie Johnson Award in 2012.
The American Trucking Associations National Truck Driving Championships will be held on August 11-15 in St. Louis, Missouri.
