Title to be Bigpoint's First, US-Built 3D Browser Game
SAN FRANCISCO, August 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Bigpoint, the global market leader in browser-based online games, today announced that it selected dSonic Inc., an award-winning audio production company, to provide in-game sound design and development for its upcoming title, Bigpoint's first project in the United States. In collaboration with Bigpoint's local development team, dSonic will create in-game sound effects, environmental audio, and a soundtrack.
"With this project, our goal is to redefine what's possible in online gaming and showcase our talent in North America," said Heiko Hubertz, CEO, Bigpoint Inc. "The infusion of innovative, high-end audio into our upcoming title is absolutely critical to achieving this goal. We couldn't be happier working the dSonic team on this endeavor."
dSonic has worked with some of the most successful AAA publishers in the games industry, including 2K Games, Namco Bandai, and BioWare, and has provided audio for many hit titles, such as Bioshock, Brutal Legend, and Oblivion.
"We are excited to partner with Bigpoint on a truly unique, new title as they build on their massive success in Europe," said Simon Amarasingham, dSonic's CEO. "When this game hits the market, Bigpoint will have clearly raised the bar and changed attitudes about the potential of games that run within web browsers."
Bigpoint plans to release its San Francisco-developed game in Q4 2010. More details will be made available over the next few months. In addition, the company is planning additional global launches, including Poisonville, which is based upon its own intellectual property, scheduled for release later this year.
