PHOENIX, Jan. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BillingTree®, one of the nation's leading on-demand payment processors headquartered in Phoenix, announced that its annual BillingTree RockBlock concert raised $80,000 for the Arizona Republic's Season for Sharing fund, which helps human service agencies in Arizona. This is some 60% higher than BillingTree's previous highest donations to an individual charity - ChildHelp® and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which each received $50,000 in 2010 from the BillingTree RockBlock charity fund raiser concert event.
More than 3,000 people – up 50 percent over 2010 – packed the new venue of Downtown Phoenix's Cityscape, which was headlined by legendary multi-platinum rockers REO Speedwagon. The BillingTree hosted event acted as the kick-off to the Season for Sharing – the annual holiday fundraising drive for local charities organized by the Arizona Republic and 12 News. Pre-show supporting events included the annual B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse) Abuse Awareness Ride, which BillingTree supported once again as part of its commitment to supporting local charities.
Additionally, In 2011 BillingTree enabled employees to work a total of 232.5 hours for charitable causes during their paid hours (the equivalent of a full-time person devoting six weeks service) and supported 12 local charity events ranging from the Arthritis Foundation and Cardinals Kids Camp to the Zoo Walk for Autism Research and Muscular Dystrophy Association. It is a supporter amongst other charities, of PROJECT ELF and of ChildHelp, and over the holiday period employees donated items and helped with wrapping gifts to 8 adopted families and children.
"We are once again very grateful for the support of the public in Phoenix, local businesses and music fans that helped us raise so much money for the Season for Sharing," said Scott McCollum, BillingTree's President. "BillingTree RockBlock just keeps getting bigger and 2011's venue worked well and it made for a great place to watch such an awesome line-up of bands. We had a last minute change to the line-up but Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown gave the night a youthful injection of energy."
"We as a company are committed to helping local charitable causes," he added, "and that is also reflected in the amount of time our employees spent last year helping needy individuals and organizations."
