Big Break Brings 200 Healthcare IT Jobs to New Orleans
GREENSBORO, N.C., Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Intellect Resources, offering innovative and comprehensive consulting, recruiting and hiring solutions within the Healthcare IT market, announced Big Break New Orleans, a one day audition process where candidates compete to become a trainer and instruct healthcare staff on the use of Epic, the fastest‐selling electronic medical record (EMR) program on the market today. Two hundred selected individuals will complete a five month minimum employment assignment with the prestigious Ochsner Health System.
To receive a ticket granting entry to the audition, candidates must apply online at irbigbreak.com, complete the application, upload their resume and complete a short questionnaire before the application window closes at 5pm on January 19, 2012. The auditions will be held on Saturday, January 21 from 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the International House Hotel in New Orleans. The trainers hired at Big Break New Orleans will instruct healthcare staff on a new electronic medical record system from Epic, the industry leader in electronic health records.
"Big Break is an opportunity for the many unemployed and under‐employed New Orleans citizens who want to transition into a more stable career or an industry with higher potential for growth. Instead of targeting those who already have experience in healthcare IT or training, at Big Break we're looking for individuals with the right personality who we can train on the technology," said Tiffany Crenshaw, president and CEO of Intellect Resources. "We're opening the audition process to anyone with a degree or professional certification, who thinks they have the personality, work ethic and people skills to succeed as a healthcare technology trainer."
The new EMR system is being implemented to comply with a provision of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which encourages healthcare providers to convert to electronic records in order to reduce cost and increase the efficiency and accuracy of health records management. While Ochsner has had an electronic medical record for years, they are upgrading to the latest technology to bring even better care to their patients across Southeast Louisiana and beyond.
After applying only at irbigbreak.com, approved contestants will receive an e‐ticket to the event and further instructions for the audition via email. No walk‐ins will be admitted the day of the event. There is no relocation package for this opportunity, so residents within commuting distance of Ochsner Health System are encouraged to apply.
Ideal candidates will have excellent presentation skills, a flexible work schedule, English fluency, a degree or professional certification and computer proficiency. Candidates selected from the auditions must successfully complete a 4‐6 week paid credentialing course in order to be placed on assignment at Ochsner.
Contestants will advance or face elimination as they are routed through Big Break's exhilarating audition phases including: interviews, a videoed Q&A session, team activities, a presentation and more. Contestants will be evaluated on their professionalism, presentation skills, communication skills, poise, attitude, teamwork and ability to think on their feet.
After final selection, the team of professionals is comprehensively trained and credentialed in the appropriate electronic medical record (EMR) before training healthcare staff in a classroom setting and providing over‐the-shoulder support during the go‐live event.
"We're really hoping to find some great candidates from all walks of life who are interested in getting into the high growth field of healthcare technology," said Chad Jones, Epic Project Executive, Ochsner Health System. "The audition process is an exciting way to let candidates be a little more creative than the typical job interview, and we're looking forward to this unique recruiting experience."
