Bideawee - A Leading Pet Welfare Organization - Announces New 'Todd B. Richter' Foster Program
New Opportunity for Volunteers to Host Cats and Dogs on a Loving but Temporary Basis
NEW YORK, Feb 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Want to help make the world a better place, one paw print at a time? Are you ready to open your heart and home to an animal in need, but are not ready to adopt for one reason or another? Now could be the perfect time to become a foster volunteer through Bideawee's new Todd B. Richter Foster Program. Bideawee, a leading pet welfare organization serving metropolitan New York and Long Island for the past 114 years, just created the foster program for puppies, kittens, cats and dogs that are not yet ready for adoption.
"We are very excited about this new program as there is a special need for animals who are not ready for adoption, sick, recovering from surgery, or being treated for a medical condition, as well as animals who have behavioral issues such as separation anxiety or shyness," states Jennifer Goodwin, Vice President for Development at Bideawee.
The foster program is named for Todd B. Richter, a newly appointed Bideawee board member who truly understands the importance of fostering animals. Currently the Vice Chairman of Global Banking at Barclays, he focuses on the healthcare services field, including global animal health. Richter comments: "By fostering pets, these volunteers provide the bridge the animals need to get to their forever home. They are saving pets' lives."
There is virtually no cost to be a foster volunteer. Food, medical supplies, visits to the Bideawee animal hospital and emergency care are covered. Those interested should visit www.bideawee.org and fill out the questionnaire. Bideawee staff will review applications to make the perfect match. Typically, foster length will be one month, but may differ from animal to animal based on medical conditions and needs.
