BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau (BHCVB) today announced its fourth annual Chinese New Year celebration, beginning with a special one-night only event on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. at the Saban Theatre. The production, which celebrates the upcoming Year of the Sheep, will feature internationally acclaimed entertainment from Beijing and will kick off Beverly Hills' "Happy Chinese New Year – Beijing Culture Month." BHCVB has partnered with the China International Culture Association (CICA) with the support of the Chinese Consulate of Los Angeles to bring the special Chinese New Year event and month-long celebration to the City of Beverly Hills.
"It is an honor to have such remarkable talent travel all the way from Beijing to share their inspiring performances and art as we celebrate Chinese New Year 2015 and the Year of the Sheep," said Julie Wagner, Chief Executive Officer, BHCVB. "We are delighted to have the opportunity to share these national treasures with our community and the tourists who are in our city during this time. We are also pleased to deliver a celebration that expresses our gratitude to the Chinese community and the business they bring to Beverly Hills."
The special program will feature notable acts from the esteemed Beijing Performance & Arts Group, such as Chinese acrobatics from the China National Acrobatic Troupe, a Peking Opera piece by the renowned Chen Junhua, and a dance performance by the award-winning dancer Zhu Han and lead dancer of Beijing Dance Drama & Opera House, Miao Miao. Musical acts include a Pipa solo from Zhou Hui, an Erhu and Violin piece by Song Fei and Lu Siqing with piano accompaniment, and a performance of "Auld Lang Syne" by singers Chen Junhua and Gong Shuang. Traditional Chinese art from the Beijing Foreign Cultural Exchanges Center (BCEC) will also be on display in the Saban Theatre lobby for attendees to admire.
While the event is free, Ticketmaster processing fees apply. Seats are limited and require reservations in advance online at http://www.ticketmaster.com/Happy-Chinese-New-Year-Bejing-tickets/artist/2074235?tm_link=edp_Artist_Name.
Participating hotels in Beverly Hills, such as Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills, The Beverly Hilton, L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, Maison 140 and Montage Beverly Hills will also join the city's Chinese New Year celebration by offering special packages throughout the month of February. These hotel packages will welcome guests with popular Chinese amenities such as in-room hot water kettle with Chinese tea, Chinese newspapers, slippers, Chinese breakfast dining options and more. Chinese guests who stay and shop in Beverly Hills for the New Year will also feel at ease while they navigate the city as most Beverly Hills hotels and stores offer Mandarin-speaking staff on-site and accept Union Pay.
Beverly Hills' annual Chinese New Year celebrations have allowed BHCVB to continue building relationships with the local and international Chinese community and have become a highly anticipated event in Southern California. Previous Chinese New Year festivities include traditional Chinese dances, musical performances from popular Chinese artists, martial arts demonstrations, fashion shows with traditional Chinese dress and more.
