BetterInvesting Helps Individual Investors Focus on Winning Long-Term Strategies at BetterInvesting National Convention, Sept. 13-16 in Houston
MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Aug. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Individual investors will learn how to make sense of Wall Street and build successful portfolios at the BetterInvesting National Convention, Sept. 13-16 at the Marriott Houston Westchase in Houston.
The BetterInvesting National Convention focuses on empowering Main Street investors to follow commonsense long-term strategies by drawing on more than 60 years of education. "The volunteers who organize the convention and teach the sessions are dedicated to the idea that anyone can learn to be a successful investor," says Joe Parks, the convention's chairman. "With the future of Social Security in doubt and company pension plans disappearing, individuals need to take more control over their financial future. Educational events such as this are an important step toward that goal."
The convention offers 72 sessions on selecting stocks and mutual funds, planning for retirement, managing a portfolio and more. Investors of all experience levels can find sessions to meet their interests, from the basics of investing in stocks to discussions of bonds, exchange-traded funds and options.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, the public is invited to attend a free day of investment education that includes corporate presentations from PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, CVS Caremark, BBVA and other prominent companies that want to reach individual investors along with a Corporate Expo. Keynote speaker Mike Tian, senior equity analyst and equities strategist for the Morningstar Opportunistic Investor newsletter, will detail how to identify investment-worthy growing companies. In addition, the Securities and Exchange Commission will be there to discuss Wall Street reform, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) will lead a session on recognizing and avoiding fraud.
The convention is the premiere education event of BetterInvesting, a nonprofit investment education association. The association's BetterInvesting Volunteer Advisory Board, comprising volunteers who are passionate about the association's mission, conducts the annual event.
