HOUSTON, Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene ("Gary Greene") today announced the company along with the University of Houston Bauer College of Business, Financial Planning Association of Houston, Houston Lawyers Referral Service and others will host the first Harvey Financial Recovery Boot Camp and provide one-on-one consultations for attendees affected by Hurricane Harvey.
The Harvey Financial Recovery Boot Camp will be held at the University of Houston's Cemo Hall, 4746 Calhoun Road, on Saturday, November 11. The event will include an opening session at 8:30 a.m. with breakout sessions covering finance, taxes, real estate, financial planning, legal and insurance starting at 10 a.m. A concluding panel discussion and Q&A with attendees will begin at noon.
"In the wake of Hurricane Harvey and flooding that had a significant impact on the lives and financial conditions of our students and community, Bauer College has partnered with several organizations," Undergraduate Business Programs Associate Dean Frank Kelley said. "We are thankful for this all volunteer effort by 'Mattress Mack' and many professionals in the financial, legal, and real estate fields donating their time and talents."
Individuals are encouraged to register in advance of the event at http://www.bauer.uh.edu/departments/finance/pfl/events/Harvey-Boot-Camp.php.
The gathering will feature Jim McIngvale, owner of Gallery Furniture, as its keynote speaker. Mr. McIngvale made national headlines for transforming his furniture stores into shelters after Hurricane Harvey for fellow Houstonians. "Through his selfless act, Jim showed the world the meaning of paying it forward and taking care of each other during and after the storm," said event organizer, Roger Thaxton.
Mark Woodroof, partner of Gary Greene, will address attendees on the short- and possible long-term impact of Harvey from a residential real estate perspective, providing insight for those whose homes were impacted by the storm as well as those looking to buy or sell a home in the coming year.
"The Harvey Financial Recovery Boot Camp is designed to help those impacted by the hurricane take a few deep breathes, and gain access to valuable resources to help them now," Mark Woodroof said. "The recovery process is not a sprint, so don't make sudden decisions for you and others, it's a marathon and our hope is this boot camp will help people make the right decisions for their future."
Several agents from Gary Greene's 23 Houston-area sales offices will be on hand to answer real estate questions. Also participating in the boot camp will be Gibraltar Insurance Services.
