Bestselling Children's Author Dan Gutman Motivates Reluctant Readers with Humorous and Fun E-riginals
Open Road Integrated Media to publish digital versions of Gutman's new and backlist titles
NEW YORK, Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dan Gutman knows how to appeal to kids, whether it's starting a magazine called Video Games Player or consistently delivering humorous books on topics young readers love. Open Road Integrated Media, a digital publisher and multimedia content company, announced today that it will digitally publish both new and backlist titles from this prolific bestselling children's author.
Open Road will release and market new entries in the Funny Boy series as E-riginals along with the series' first three titles. Gutman plans to continue the series, writing a total of 26 books for each letter of the alphabet.
"I hope all kids will like my books, but I especially write for kids who don't like to read, because I was one," said Gutman, bestselling author of more than 100 books, mostly for the middle grade audience including the New York Times Bestseller Mission Unstoppable. "Kids who are reluctant readers just want you to get to the story, get to the action, and make things happen."
He has written both fiction and non-fiction, and his work has been released by a number of prominent publishing houses. His acclaimed and bestselling books include The Baseball Card Adventure series, The Genius Files, My Weird School series, the Million Dollar series and of course the Funny Boy series which Open Road is now digitally publishing.
Gutman said: "First came primitive cave drawings and petroglyphs. Then came parchment and scrolls. After that, books and movable type. Now, it's electrons. It's all part of my plan for worldwide domination. But in all seriousness, it's so exciting for me to be joining the ebook revolution with Open Road."
Tina Pohlman, Publisher at Open Road said: "Dan Gutman writes in the language of kids and totally gets what is funny to them."
Funny Boy Meets the Dumbbell from Deimos (with Dangerous Dental Decay) is an E-riginal -- A brand new entry in the Funny Boy series. The series, which Publishers Weekly said does what Gutman "does best: entertains readers," also includes:
- Funny Boy Meets the Airsick Alien from Andromeda
- Funny Boy Versus the Bubble-Brained Barbers from the Big Bang
- Funny Boy Takes on the Chit-Chatting Cheeses from Chattanooga
The ebooks will include an illustrated biography of Gutman, featuring never-before-seen photos.
