Best Lighting Retrofit EBie Awards™ Win Inspires Independence LED to Launch $10 Million in Energy Incentives
U.S. Manufacturer of Advanced LED Tubes "Pays it Forward" for Property Owners.
WAYNE, Pa., June 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Independence LED (www.IndependenceLED.com), a leading U.S. manufacturer of LED tubes and LED fixtures, today announced it will offer $10,000,000 in energy incentives in celebration of the win for the Best Lighting Retrofit at the EBie Awards™, held on June 19, 2013. The EBies were created by Urban Green Council (www.UrbanGreenCouncil.org), the New York Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (www.USGBC.org), to celebrate the people working in Existing Buildings (EBies) who have made great strides in improving environmental performance, but whose accomplishments may otherwise go unheralded. The core criteria for the Best Lighting Retrofit "Shine a Light on Me" is the greatest percentage reduction in building lighting energy consumption or lighting power density with key metrics including light quality. Independence LED's winning project was the retrofit of the Davis & Warshow's Distribution Center in Mashpeth, NY. The facility has over two miles of installed LED tubes, making it the largest single facility LED tube retrofit in the U.S. with the most efficient lighting in watts per square foot. "We applaud the dedication of the account team, the leadership from Davis & Warshow, and the vision from Urban Green Council to recognizing existing buildings that do not typically received as much attention as new construction projects," said Charlie Szoradi, CEO of Independence LED. "It's our hope that by offering a multi-million dollar incentive program, we will accelerate the adoption of LED tubes and LED fixtures among property owners who want to see for themselves the efficiency and quality of our U.S. Made LEDs. The results include both saving money and the environment."
At the event, John Lalley received the EBie Award presented by Rafael Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and Navad Malin of BuildingGreen, who were both jurors. Mr. Lalley was one of the account managers on the Independence LED team along with Carrie Kaltwasser, and the EBies also included winning certificates for Independence LED's CEO Charlie Szoradi and Davis & Warshow's COO David Finkel.
