"The prospect of attending graduate school can be extremely daunting for students, especially those living off of a teacher's salary," said Brett Gershon, editor at Best College Values, of the ranking. "Many students are already neck deep in student debt from their undergraduate degrees and the idea of amassing even more debt by attending an expensive graduate program is not a decision to be taken lightly." Yet, Gershon notes, that there are objective benefits to pursuing an advanced degree including higher salary, increased career opportunities, greater professional competence, and more. "We hope to make the decision a little easier by highlighting a selection of quality programs that strike a balance between reasonable tuition rates and a high return on investment," he says. This allows prospective students to focus on the more subjective aspects and find a program that suits their unique educational needs and interests.
