According to Merrill Cook, lead editor for the piece, many college rankings organizations that would seek to survey online colleges do so without taking into account the unique strengths and demands that come along with online - as opposed to traditional - learning environments. 7.1 million Americans took for-credit online classes in 2013. In recent years, online education has flourished even more. Employers are increasingly embracing online degrees as online degrees have become mainstream. Best College Reviews attempted to measure these unique facets of online education through our flexibility and support services metrics. We augmented the view these metrics afforded us of online colleges by also surveying metrics that are most important to potential students: affordability and academic rigor. Please contact Merrill Cook with any questions or comments regarding the rankings.
