Best Buy Signs Data Warehouse Expansion Agreement with Teradata

DAYTON, Ohio, Nov. 4, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world's largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, today announced that it has completed a data warehouse expansion agreement with Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE: BBY), the nation's largest consumer electronics retailer. Best Buy leverages its enterprise data warehouse (EDW) to provide business insight to its many users across a variety of business processes.

With this new extension to its database-driven business intelligence platform, Best Buy will have the ability to further bring together customer and product insights gathered from across its value chain.

More than 40,000 users interact on the Teradata system, processing about two million queries every day. In addition to the core Teradata platform and database, Best Buy has benefited from Teradata applications, including:

• Teradata Decision Experts (TDE), a pre-built, end-to-end financial analytic solution portfolio of several modules that speed delivery of Oracle ERP data, both Financial and Human Resources, to business users, supporting revenue growth, cost reduction and other initiatives.  
• Teradata Value Analyzer (TVA), a profitability analysis application enabling monitoring of product and store profitability.
