Bernie Marcus Urges the House to Quickly Pass Senate Budget
WASHINGTON, Oct. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Last week, the U.S. Senate passed a budget that clears a major hurdle for passing long overdue tax relief for hardworking Americans. On Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on this Senate budget. Bernie Marcus, co-founder of The Home Depot and the Job Creators Network, issued the following statement urging the House to pass the Senate budget:
The House of Representatives should quickly pass the Senate's budget that offers $1.5 trillion worth of tax cuts for hardworking Americans. Passing the Senate budget now will not only make tax cuts more likely but also dramatically speed up the legislative process. This is vital because small businesses, hardworking taxpayers, and the overall economy need tax cuts now.
Now is not the time for Representatives to debate budget funding for entitlement reform or defense spending – that can be done during the appropriations process. Fiscal hawks skeptical over the size of the budget must recognize that the worst fiscal outcome for the country is a House of Representatives led by Nancy Pelosi and a Democratic majority pushing budget busters like universal health care and universal basic income. That is the country's political future if Republicans cannot deliver on their election promise and pass tax cuts now.
