Berman and Company Wins 12 Pollie Awards in Advertising and Interactive Communications
Firm Shines in Humor and Digital Categories
WASHINGTON, March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Public affairs firm Berman and Company (BAC) won twelve Pollie Awards over the weekend for its work in issue advocacy advertising and creative public relations campaigns.
Each year the prestigious Pollie Awards recognize the best in political and public affairs communications. The Pollie Awards are administered by the American Association of Political Consultants, which is the world's largest organization of political and public policy professionals. Esquire Magazine has called the Pollies "the Oscars of political advertising."
Among BAC's winners:
Gold Award for Best National Website: HowMuchFish.com hosts the only seafood calculator on the Internet that resolves the conflicting information about the health benefits and risks of eating fish.
Two awards for Best Facebook Campaign: The top award was given to Defeat the Debt, which provides fans with news, updates, and information every day about the national debt and a Pollie for Teachers Union Exposed, which educates fans about teacher union attempts to block education reform and protect bad teachers.
The highest award for Defeat the Debt radio advertisement: National Debt Halloween Costume features a child dressed as the national debt for Halloween because "its much scarier" than being a ghost or vampire. The television version of this spot also won a Pollie in the National Public Affairs/TV category.
In the last three years, Berman and Company has won more Pollie Awards in humor categories than any other agency, company, or campaign. This year, Berman won humor awards for a web video spoof of Julia Child making table sugar from sugar beets and a radio spot about health care reform called "ObamaZone."
"We have always excelled in using humor and creativity in our communications work and now our success in the 2011 Pollie Awards confirms Berman and Company's status as a leader in digital and interactive channels," said James Bowers, Creative Director and Senior Vice President of BAC.
