BENZONIA, Mich., Sept. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Benzie County in Northern Michigan invites visitors to experience Pure Michigan's newest Byway, M-22, during the 2016 fall color tour season. The 116-mile stretch of M-22 that runs through Benzie County is frequently listed as one of the country's best routes for scenic drives, especially during the fall months. The new M-22 Benzie / Manistee Pure Michigan Byway*, newly designed in September 2016, runs from the U.S. 31 intersection just north of Manistee through Onekama, Arcadia, Elberta and Frankfort, and winds along beautiful Crystal Lake and a 30 mile stretch of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore north of Frankfort, Michigan in Benzie County.
To celebrate the beauty of the fall color season, Benzie County will hold many festivals, events, and activities for every interest, starting on Saturday, October 1 and through the entire month of October 2016. Weekend festivals include the Beulah / Benzonia Fall Festival on Saturday, October 1, Frankfort Beer Week from October 3 – 8, the Frankfort Fall Festival on Saturday, October 8, the Peak to Peak Mountain Biking Festival at Crystal Mountain, Friday through Sunday, October 14 – 16, and the Frankfort Film Festival, Thursday – Sunday, October 20 – 23.
Additional fall experiences in Benzie County include Point Betsie Lighthouse tours on October 1st through 4th and 7th through 10th, and scenic chairlift rides at Crystal Mountain each weekend in October.
Benzie County Visitor's Bureau is offering a "Benzie Treasure Trove" package for visitors who stay and play for two consecutive nights at participating lodging establishments through October 31, 2016.
