WALTHAM, Mass., Aug. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Bentley University's nationally recognized career service department is the best in the country, earning the number one ranking in the The Princeton Review's newly-released guide, "The 384 Best Colleges, 2019 Edition." It's the sixth year in a row that Bentley's career service department has been ranked in the top 5 in the U.S., demonstrating Bentley's successful approach to ensuring that students thrive after graduation.
In addition to the best-in-the-nation career services ranking, Bentley was named to The Princeton's Review's list of Best Northeastern Colleges, Colleges That Pay You Back, Best Schools for Internships (#4) and Top 50 Green Colleges (#29).
A Strong Return on Investment
Bentley provides a strong return on investment for students and their families through its strong academics, comprehensive student life and nationally recognized career services. Six months after graduation, 97 percent of the Class of 2017 was employed, attending or planning to attend graduate school. The average starting salary for Bentley graduates is $57,000, up from $55,000 last year. Nearly 60 percent of graduates credit their post-graduation success to Bentley's career services team.
"This best-in-the-nation Princeton Review ranking is important because it is based on our students and their satisfaction," says Janet Ehl, interim executive director of university career services. "Our career education courses, use of technology and close partnerships with companies all contribute to the broad range of career services options that we offer our students."
At Bentley, planning for a career begins when students arrive on campus through the university's HIRE Education career action plan, a 4-year approach to lead students toward a fulfilling career path. Ninety-nine percent of Bentley first-year students enroll in Career Services' Career Development 101 course, which lays the foundation for a lifetime of successful career management.
As part of the career discovery process, 92 percent of Bentley students complete at least one internship and 71 percent complete more than one before graduation.
How the Ranking was Conducted
The Princeton Review compiled the rankings for the 2019 edition based on surveys of 138,000 students attending the 384 colleges in the book in 2017-18 and/or the previous two school years. The survey asks students 84 questions about their school's academics, administration, student body and themselves. The format uses a five-point Likert scale to convert qualitative student assessments into quantitative data for school-to-school comparisons. Learn more about how the survey was done.
