WALTHAM, Mass., March 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Bentley University will hold its Commencement later this year, as Bentley and the global community continue to take measures to protect society against the spread of COVID-19. With increased travel restrictions and state and federal orders against large gatherings, the decision was made to postpone Commencement, President Alison Davis-Blake said, but the university will announce the new rescheduled date in the coming weeks to ensure that graduates will still be honored and celebrated.
"We recognize the importance that Commencement holds for our students and their families and wanted to be sure that this meaningful celebration of their hard work was not taken from them," said Davis-Blake. "I've spent much of my life in higher education and know well the excitement and feeling of accomplishment that Commencement brings. It's a milestone achievement that students remember for the rest of their lives."
All degrees will still be conferred in May, so students can start jobs or continue their academic journeys.
"The second half of this spring semester has been unlike any other in the history of our university, and I'm sorry about all the challenges students have had to face," said Davis-Blake. "They have earned the right to cross that stage and hear those cheers as a proud Bentley University graduate."
