Benjamin Petersen Honored With Russell S. Springer Award
WARRENDALE, Pa., Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Benjamin Petersen, postdoctoral appointee at Sandia National Laboratories, was honored with the SAE International Russell S. Springer Award during the SAE 2012 World Congress held in Detroit.
Established in 1954, this award recognizes the author of an original and outstanding technical paper presented at an SAE International meeting or any of its sections and is published in SAE International literature in the year for which the recipient is selected. To encourage younger member achievement, the recipient is required to be 36 years of age or younger.
This award honors the late Russell S. Springer who funded this award through his bequest and is administered by the Springer Award Board.
In his current role, Petersen is an appointee in the Combustion Research Facility at Sandia National Laboratories. Prior to joining the organization, he served as a research assistant within the Engine Research Center at the University of Wisconsin.
He is the author or co-author of 17 papers, including 12 SAE International technical papers and four journal articles, and the recipient of numerous industry awards including the 2010 SAE International Excellence in Oral Presentation Award.
Petersen holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin.
