Benefitfocus Launches Allstate Benefits App
Innovative Solution in the Delivery of Voluntary Benefits on the Web
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. and CHARLESTON, S.C., April 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Allstate and Benefitfocus today announced the availability of a revolutionary Web capability for voluntary benefits. The Allstate Benefits App makes Allstate's group benefits available to more than 300,000 employers and 12 million consumers on the BENEFITFOCUS® Platform.
As employers and their employees use the Internet to manage their benefits, it is a necessity to integrate all benefits in one place. Traditionally, employees enroll in health and voluntary benefits using a combination of several different methods. For example, employees might enroll in some benefits on paper, while they are required to visit multiple websites for other benefits. With the introduction of the Allstate Benefits App, employers and employees can now manage all benefits online, anytime on the Benefitfocus Platform.
Employers want to provide a well-rounded benefits package for their employees and offer the education necessary to help employees make good decisions. There is also a need to streamline administrative processes and introduce enrollment efficiencies, while increasing employees' knowledge of the benefits available to them. By teaming up, Allstate and Benefitfocus provide a technology solution for voluntary benefits education, communication and enrollment.
"Through our partnership with Benefitfocus, we see a true path to the future of enrolling in the Allstate Benefits product set," said David A. Bird, President of Allstate Benefits. "Our objective at Allstate is to provide a seamless, unified enrollment experience that allows employers to manage their entire suite of benefits, including the Allstate offerings, in the most efficient and effective manner possible."
The Benefitfocus API and SDK provide the ability for companies and third party developers to build apps that plug into and extend the Benefitfocus Platform. This enables partners, such as Allstate, to integrate their products, content and existing Web tools with the enrollment and billing technology that has made Benefitfocus the industry leader.
"It is a privilege to work with the great team at Allstate. The Allstate Benefits App is an endorsement of our Platform and Apps strategy, which enables speed-to-market while solving a real need for efficiency," said Shawn Jenkins, President and CEO of Benefitfocus. "This is a big step for not only our customers but also the marketplace. We are offering all benefits in one place, eliminating the cost of paper-based enrollment and billing processes, while greatly improving the efficiency of communicating information to individual employees, who are making important decisions on behalf of their families."
The Allstate Benefits App includes products such as Group Universal Life, Group Critical Illness, Group Accident and Group Cancer. Instead of filling out a separate form or visiting multiple websites, employees select Allstate benefits on the Benefitfocus Platform as part of the core enrollment process, eliminating the extra steps that can sometimes be obstacles to voluntary benefits participation. The App supports multiple models of enrollment based upon what is best for the employer and its workforce. Learn more about how the Allstate Benefits App adds value to employers.
