"We encourage learning and innovation in everything we do, and the Benefitfocus Engineering Summit is an important part of our culture," said Don Taylor, Benefitfocus Chief Technology Officer. "Our team has the most intelligent, inventive and collaborative engineers that I've come across during my 25 years in the software industry. The Engineering Summit gives them a chance to come together and share ideas, debate new strategies and hear from incredibly influential technology leaders like Robert Cringely."
A contributor to Newsweek, Forbes and The New York Times, Cringely is the author of the best-selling book Accidental Empires: How the Boys of Silicon Valley Make Their Millions, Battle Foreign Competition and Still Can't Get a Date. He was also one of the first employees at Apple, joining the company in 1977. Cringely is currently a prominent tech blogger with more than 2 million monthly followers on his I, Cringely blog.
In addition to attracting leaders like Cringely, the Engineering Summit allows Benefitfocus associates to recognize the work of their peers. Top honors include Engineer of the Year and Directors' Choice. Throughout the year Benefitfocus engineers have the opportunity to participate in the BFTech program, which provides ongoing training, and FocusTime, which gives engineers one business day a month to voluntarily research a new coding technique, attend an engineering seminar or study a technology topic of interest separate from their core Benefitfocus work.
The first Benefitfocus Engineering Summit was held in August of 2008 and previous speakers include technology experts from IBM and App47, a leader in mobile application management.
