The result? Liquid Web's newest hosting zone tops the industry in a number of key metrics. Based in Lansing, Michigan with additional data center locations across the United States and Europe, Liquid Web placed first among industry competitors in CPU and Disk I/O performance, and boasted the best value for Random Write IOPS with its 2 GB SSD VPS offering.

These tests utilized the Geekbench 3 utility (http://support.primatelabs.com/kb/geekbench/) for CPU performance and CloudHarmony's own test results for Disk I/O, and pitted similar offerings by Rackspace, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Liquid Web, and DigitalOcean against each other. CPU and Disk I/O benchmarks measure speed and performance in a number of categories important to data storage and transfer. Recently engineering a new server environment dubbed, "Zone C," Liquid Web's newest offering produced noteworthy results.
The CPU measurement, in which Liquid Web paced competitors with a score of 3,881 (for a single CPU) per Geekbench metrics, is considered a key indicator of a server's speed and performance. According to these metrics, the CPUs in Liquid Web's VPS instances perform 76% better than Rackspace, 84% better than Digital Ocean, and 191% faster than AWS. Also critical is Disk I/O, which measures the input and output operations (reading or writing data) that can be performed by the storage device every second and is referenced when judging a server's potential to be slowed by the "bottlenecking" of inbound and outbound data. According to CloudHarmony's metrics, Liquid Web's VPS instances were 323% faster than Rackspace, 979% faster than Digital Ocean, and 388% faster than AWS in random write IOPS. Liquid Web's Zone C 2 GB SSD VPS offering not only delivered the highest CPU score and highest Disk I/O numbers, but also delivered the best value per Write IOP at just $0.00084.
Liquid Web owns and operates three data centers located in Lansing, MI in addition to locations in Phoenix, AZ and Amsterdam, NL.
