WASHINGTON,, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ben Goddard, founding partner of Goddard Gunster, announced his retirement today.
Goddard is widely credited with creating the genre of issue advocacy advertising in 1993 with his hugely successful Harry & Louise television campaign. His firms have since gone on to win numerous awards for branding and advocacy.
Most recently, Goddard Gunster and team brought home the 2013 American Association of Political Consultants Excellence Award for Public Affairs/Advocacy Campaign of the Year. Looking ahead to 2014, the firm is positioned to defend its reputation as the nation's premier issue advocacy and ballot measure specialists while maintaining its core national clients.
Goddard said of his retirement, "I am very proud of the team that Gerry [Gunster] and I have built and what will be accomplished under Gerry's leadership. This past year was one of our best." He added that with Gunster at the helm, "the firm is poised to continue its winning streak."
"Each member of our executive team has worked closely with Ben Goddard," said Gerry Gunster. "In a sense, we are all his students. And that's why we are so committed to advancing the genre of issue advocacy in accordance with Ben's philosophies."
While Goddard will no longer be involved in day-to-day operations, he will stay on in an advisory capacity. He intends to remain active in the newly launched Goddard Institute of Public Affairs.
