Ben Bodkin Promoted to Director of Legislative Affairs for MAC
LANSING, Mich., Jan. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Michigan Association of Counties (MAC) is proud to announce the advancement of Legislative Coordinator, Ben Bodkin, to director of legislative affairs at MAC. Current director, Tom Hickson, will soon be beginning as vice president for public policy with the Michigan Catholic Conference.
"Tom and Ben both have served as some of the lead advocates in Lansing for counties and while we are sad to see Tom go, I am confident that Ben will do a fantastic job taking lead of our legislative efforts," said Timothy K. Bodkin joined MAC in 2004 as the legislative coordinator that handles county human services, mental health, public health, foster care, and technology issues, among others. Prior to that, he served as the chief of staff for former Michigan Senator Cameron Brown, as well as worked for former Representative James Mick Middaugh, Member Michigan House of Representatives and the Honorable Nick Smith, Member United States House of Representatives.
Bodkin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hillsdale College. Bodkin resides in Eaton Rapids with his wife and children.
The Michigan Association of Counties (MAC) founded on February 1, 1898, is the only statewide organization dedicated to the representation of all county commissioners in Michigan. MAC is a non-partisan, non-profit organization which advances education, communication and cooperation among county government officials in the state of Michigan.
