HARTFORD, Conn., May 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Thousands of Connecticut residents will be exploring the state's fascinating world of history, art and culture when the Connecticut Office of Tourism hosts its annual Connecticut Open House Day on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
Now in its 13th year, Connecticut Open House Day encourages residents to become tourists in their own state, and invites them to discover new attractions and rediscover old favorites.
This year, more than 200 attractions, historical sites, museums, theaters and other venues in every corner of the state will offer free admission or special offers in celebration of the popular event. The complete listing of 2017 Connecticut Open House Day participants and offers is available on www.CTvisit.com, here: www.CTvisit.com/CTOpenHouseDay.
Residents can look forward to:
- Free admission at 80+ attractions, including museums, historical sites and state parks.
- Free tours at 30+ sites, including some that are rarely open to the public.
- Special offers and giveaways at 90+ businesses, including art galleries and vineyards.
Other special activities throughout the state include tours at animal farms and historic homes, dance and musical performances, boat and train rides, art and nature walks, craft projects, kayak rentals, food and beverage tastings, and much more.
Randy Fiveash, director of the Connecticut Office of Tourism, recommends creating an Open House Day itinerary and getting an early start on June 10. "Our compact size makes it easy for residents to explore a variety of attractions in one day, so we always encourage them to plan a full day of fun."
Not only is Connecticut Open House Day a celebration of Connecticut's exceptional cultural and tourism assets, but it's also an important day for the state's tourism-related businesses. Last year, many participating businesses reported two, three and four times as many visitors on Open House Day than a typical Saturday.
