Beckett 24Vdc Li-ion Module Passes UN Battery Transport Tests
Beckett Model 8224S Li-ion Battery Can Now Ship by Any Means, Anywhere UN38.3 Standard is Recognized
CLEVELAND, March 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Beckett Energy Systems, a division of the RW Beckett Corporation, has successfully completed the testing requirements of UN38.3 Manual of Tests and Criteria for shipping lithium-ion batteries. This means the Beckett Model 8224S Li-ion Battery Module can now be shipped by any means (air freight - cargo, ground, sea vessel, rail) to all countries recognizing the UN standard.
The UN Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, 5th revised edition lists required tests and acceptance criteria in order to ship cells, batteries or battery systems that are lithium metal or lithium-ion. International agencies, including the International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the US Department of Transportation (DOT) have adopted the UN test procedures for their shipping regulations.
Beckett Energy's 24Vdc lithium-ion battery module with 1.1kWh storage capacity in less than 8kg (17.5lb) is the lightest, most energy dense lithium-ion battery module in the marketplace. "Satisfying the UN testing requirements provides a high value to our customers, who want to be able to ship their products with our lithium-ion battery pack anywhere in the world, often by air," states Brad Moore, senior business development manager for Beckett Energy Systems. Beckett's model 8224S battery module and model 84BMS battery management system are commercialized products available today.
