RESTON, Va., Nov. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bechtel today announced that the company has for the third straight year been named a Military Friendly Employer® by the publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse magazines. The designation is given to companies that demonstrate a commitment to hiring, training, and retaining current and former military personnel.
Bechtel has a long history of supporting service members and veterans around the world. The company is actively engaged in a construction industry-wide initiative to hire 100,000 military veterans. It has supported such programs as Helmets to Hardhats, an organization that fosters career opportunities in the construction industry for military personnel, as well as Network of Champions, a consortium of leading companies that help severely injured service members and their families identify career opportunities.
This year, more than eight percent of Bechtel's new hires in the United States have been U.S. military veterans.
"We are dedicated to supporting our service men and women, and consider it an honor to provide veterans another chapter in their career after their service," said Larry Melton, Bechtel's manager of human resources and veteran of the United States Marine Corps. "We find that service members often have the same core values consistent with our Bechtel culture, such as strong ethics, safety, quality, leadership, collaboration, and innovation. We are committed to a continued effort to provide support for military veterans and their families seeking civilian employment."
Bechtel recruits and retains top talent from all service branches: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard, and all components: former active duty, National Guard, and reserve.
