Beautycounter Announces Executive Moves
Company Adds Industry Veterans to Secure Its Safer Category Leadership; Head of Environmental Health and Safety to Depart
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Beautycounter, the leader in safer skincare and cleaner cosmetics, today announced a number of executive and strategic leadership changes. Four proven industry veterans have joined the company, and a member of the founding team in 2011 will depart soon.
"We are no longer a start-up trying to make our way," said Gregg Renfrew, founder and Chief Executive Officer at Beautycounter. "As a fast-growth company, our past year has been focused on careful executive recruiting, and we are thrilled with the proven senior executives joining our team, and the addition of strategic business leaders supporting them," she said.
The following are new to Beautycounter, effective immediately:
Anthony ("Tony") Prudhomme has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer, bringing with him deep international executive experience, including Jafra Cosmetics, Beyond Meat and Dole Foods to the team. With Deloitte earlier in his career, Tony is widely recognized and respected for his strategic expertise and record-setting results in global and fast-growth companies across industries. "Tony's vision for enterprise value creation, technology transformation and customer-centric programs at Beautycounter has us very optimistic about the future," Renfrew said. "He is a world-class executive, proven among the very best, and I am thrilled he is here." He will focus on delivering the company's strategic and financial plans, focused on growth of the safer cosmetics and skincare category across all channels.
Robert Steere has joined Beautycounter as Head of Operations, coming to the company from Dermalogica, where he served as Vice President, Operations. He was previously Head of Operations at Red Bull. Rob will focus on Beautycounter's supply chain, inventory planning, manufacturing, and distribution. Gregg Renfrew said, "Rob's focus on the evolution, transparency and security of our supply chain is essential to our promise of safer skincare and cleaner cosmetics."
Xavier Ormancey, who makes an international move from Paris to Beautycounter headquarters in Santa Monica, has joined the company as Head of Product Development. His previous experience includes product development and leadership positions at L'Oréal Paris, Chanel Parfums & Beauté, and Yves Rocher Group. Xavier has earned a global reputation as a true visionary, pioneer and innovator of highly successful, environmentally friendly personal care products. "Few other industry leaders are moving the market forward as profoundly as Xavier has so far and is about to at Beautycounter," said Renfrew. Xavier has risen to international acclaim for his provocative and transformative view that living plants and the human body can and do interact in beneficial ways – including in personal care products when carefully developed for such balancing functionality. His philosophical and practical approaches to product development, detailed in a TEDx Paris talk, will guide his work at Beautycounter. He will be responsible for all product innovation, development, performance and safety.
Raj Chand has joined Beautycounter as Sourcing Manager, bringing the team global expertise in botanical and non-GMO sourcing. He was previously with Shaklee and Nutrilite. "Whether negotiating our organic vanilla supply or finding a better way to acquire our organic rose extract, Raj's dedication to detail means our products deliver as promised," said Gregg Renfrew.
Along with the management additions, one of the company's earliest leaders has chosen to depart to develop other career aspirations.
Mia J. Davis, Head of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), will depart Beautycounter effective September 30, 2016, after five years of service. Her work established the fundamentals of Beautycounter's commitment to safety. Most notably she led the creation of the company's five-step Ingredient Selection Process, which guides the development and formulation of products that are high-performing but made without more than 1,500 questionable or potentially harmful ingredients. Her leadership of EHS earned Beautycounter its number-one ranking across all industries in the breakthrough Chemical Footprint Project.
"Mia Davis has been a pioneer in the safer cosmetics space her entire career, and her knowledge and passion have been essential to Beautycounter's leadership today. Her legacy comes, for us, in establishing the initial framework upon which we will continue to grow as we fulfill our mission of getting safer products into the hands of everyone." Mia Davis was part of the founding team at Beautycounter in 2011.
