BeautyBar by B.Lo Named Undergraduate Student Business Of The Year By Babson Student Government
Babson Student Government Association (SGA) Honors Brittany Lo For Venture
WELLESLEY, Mass., July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- BeautyBar by B.Lo, a business that creates a unique experience offering makeovers to women, has been named 2014 Undergraduate Student Business of the Year by the Babson College Student Government Association (SGA). Brittany Lo, a 2014 Babson graduate, received the award on behalf of her company as Founder and CEO of BeautyBar by B.Lo.
The SGA award is given annually to a student business that has "achieved amazing sales, offered incredible value to the community, exemplified Entrepreneurial Thought and Action(r) , or showed overall creativity of a product/service," according to SGA President Joanne Louis.
"Brittany received this award because we believe that she embodies the powerful female who has redefined entrepreneurship to fit her own identity and passions," Louis said.
Lo developed the idea for the BeautyBar by B.Lo as a member of Babson's new Women Innovating Now (WIN) Lab, a year-long residency program for female students at Babson College that accelerates the entrepreneurial path from ideation to launch.
"As a member of the inaugural cohort of Babson's Women Innovating Now (WIN) Lab, Brittany is a shining example of the power of an all-women business incubator," said Susan Duffy, WIN Lab Founder and Executive Director of Center for Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership (CWEL) at Babson College.
"Brittany credits the WIN Lab--specifically the network of women peers and mentors she met there--with pushing her business to the next level. We're so pleased that we were able to provide an environment which empowered her to boldly pursue her business idea. We could not be more pleased for her success, and we're confident that, with Brittany's intelligence and passion, BeautyBar by B.Lo is destined to be a huge success," said Duffy.
Throughout the year, Brittany has executed the off-premise version of the BeautyBar by B.Lo by going into various stores, businesses and homes to perform makeovers on groups of women. She has participated in events such as "Love Yourself" at Follain, an all-natural skincare store in Boston's South End, as well as at the spring "Beauty of You" event for women in the Babson community. She currently is planning to open up a pop-shop in a high-end fitness center or hotel in the Manhattan area.
