PHILADELPHIA, July 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Beacon Point Recovery Center opens a new high quality, evidence-based, treatment facility offering individualized care where it's needed most. Located in the heart of the Port Richmond area of Philadelphia, Beacon Point offers detoxification and residential care for clients battling Substance Use Disorder (SUD) in a modern, comfortable setting.
Beacon Point was founded by three successful Philadelphia businessmen; Jim O'Connor, Joe Byrne and Danny Govberg who saw the need for a new, high-quality treatment facility in Philadelphia. All three have deep roots in the community and, like most families, have in some way been affected by the disease of addiction.
"We realized there has not been a new residential program launched here in Philadelphia in over a decade. We decided to bring great treatment to the heart of the problem instead of the other way around. This way, our clients are dealing with a staff who knows this area, the culture, and can help their families as well," said O'Connor
Construction began about a year ago with a complete 6 story renovation of the former Northeastern Hospital, in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia. The facility includes 30 beds for detoxification, an additional 90 beds for a typical 28-day residential stay, and even has amenities like a game room, fitness center, new kitchen and huge recreation area.
Beacon Point's leadership team is comprised of highly experienced treatment executives who have worked in many of the area's best institutions. Executive Director Charlie Wolfe, a 20-year industry veteran, said, "We offer a wide range of traditional and holistic therapies so our clinical team can use many different tools to build a customized treatment plan that will help our clients want to stay engaged in their treatment."
Beacon Point's location in many ways represents the contrast in Philadelphia between prosperity and desperation. Said builder and project investor, Joe Byrne, "From our building, you can travel ten blocks in one direction and see prosperity in places like Fishtown and Northern Liberties or go ten blocks the other way and witness mass homelessness due to the opioid epidemic. It's our mission to help those left behind by the growth."
Beacon Point will work with commercial, public, and third party behavioral healthcare contractors and managers to provide access to high quality treatment for as many people as possible. Beacon Point Recovery Center is privately held corporation founded in 2018. Beacon offers treatment for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders for adult clients. www.beaconpointrecovery.com
