Analyst Update: Capital Budget, Surveys, Quarterly Results, Debt Repayments, and Oil Discoveries

The U.S. stocks edged higher on Monday, helped by rise in energy shares which also overshadowed the concerns that victory of anti-bailout party Syriza in Greece could bring a fresh crisis to the Euro zone. Syriza's 40-year old leader Alexis Tsipras has vowed to renegotiate Greece's €240 million bailout deal and bring about an end to the austerity measures. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.03% to close at 17,678.70, the S&P 500 gained 0.26% to close at 2,057.09, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.29% to end at 4,771.76. European stocks also ended higher on Monday after an initial slide following the outcome of Greece elections. Riding high on the European Central Bank's recently announced bond-buying program, the Stoxx Europe 600 index rose for the eighth straight session on Monday, hitting a fresh seven-year high. In Asia, most of the equity markets managed to end the session higher despite renewed concerns over Greece's future in Euro zone.
Cenovus Energy Inc. (Cenovus) intends to exercise capital restraint in the year ahead due to weaker oil prices. In 2015, the Company is planning a capital investment of between $2.5 billion and $2.7 billion. Cenovus anticipates total oil production in 2015 to average between 197,000 bbls/d and 214,000 bbls/d net, approximately 4% higher than its forecast for 2014.
CGG SA was awarded a land seismic and an airborne gravity survey by InterOil Corporation to assess the hydrocarbon potential of their acreage in Papua New Guinea. The two-part survey is expected to start in January and end in August 2015.
Chesapeake Granite Wash Trust posted third quarter 2014 results with distributable income available to unitholders of $20.3 million compared with $25.9 million in Q3 2013. Trust Corpus at the end of the quarter stood at $266.8 million compared with $326.8 million at the end Q3 2013.
Chevron Corporation (Chevron) reported a significant oil discovery at the Anchor prospect in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Anchor is Chevron's second discovery in the deepwater Gulf in less than a year.
China Ming Yang Wind Power Group Limited's (Ming Yang) subsidiary, Guangdong Mingyang Wind Power Industry Group Co., Ltd.(GMWP), has successfully repaid its RMB1.0 billion, RMB-denominated unsecured three-year medium-term notes (the "Notes") in full on time. The total payments including principal amount and interests with respect to the Notes totaled approximately RMB1.26 billion.
