Analyst Update: Dividends, Results, Management Changes, Divestitures, and Regulatory Updates

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Tuesday as investors remained vigil over tech earnings and the Federal Reserve's concluding statement on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.40%, to close the day at 18,110.14, and the S&P 500 gained 0.28%, to 2,114.76. However, the NASDAQ Composite was down 0.10%, to finish the session at 5,055.42. European stocks tumbled on Tuesday amid concerns over Federal Reserve's meeting outcome. Germany's DAX 30 fell 1.89%, France's CAC 40 lost 1.81%, and London's FTSE 100 ended 1.03% lower on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Asian stock markets mostly closed lower on Tuesday. The Shanghai Composite Index and Australia's S&P ASX both fell on Tuesday, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was flat.
Emerge Energy Services LP (Emerge Energy) on April 24, 2015 announced a cash distribution of $1.00 for the first quarter of 2015. The dividend represents a 29% decrease compared to the fourth quarter 2014 distribution of $1.41 per unit and a 12% decrease compared to the first quarter 2014 distribution of $1.13 per unit.
Scholastic Corporation (Scholastic) announced in a press release issued on April 24, 2015 that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Educational Technology and Services (EdTech) business to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Company (HMH), a NASDAQ listed company, for $575 million in cash.
CEPHEID on April 23, 2015, announced first quarter 2015 results. The Company reported revenues of $132.6 million, representing growth of 24% from $106.9 million for the first quarter of 2014. Net income was $0.9 million, or $0.01 per share, compared to net loss of $9.3 million, or $0.13 per share, in the prior year corresponding quarter.
As a positive development for China Nepstar Chain Drugstore Ltd (China Nepstar), Regulators in China are expected to clear online sales of prescription drugs soon, as the widely expected administrative regulations for the Internet food and drugs business has been completed.
On March 9, 2015, Novadaq Technologies Inc (Novadaq) announced Patrice E. Merrin's appointment to the Company's Board of Directors. Ms. Merrin is currently serving as a non-executive director of Glencore PLC and Stillwater Mining Company, and has a strong record and experience in the natural resources and healthcare industries.
