Be Bold, Be Bald! Boosts Bald Cap Participation
Cancer fundraising organization launches celebrity bald cap auction for 6th annual day of solidarity on Oct. 17th
BOSTON, Sept. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of six successful years of cancer fundraising, Be Bold, Be Bald! is launching a celebrity ambassador program and autographed bald cap auction to kick-off this year's Day of Solidarity. For a full month prior to the October 17th Day of Solidarity, Be Bold, Be Bald! is hosting a virtual auction featuring bald caps autographed by some of Hollywood's most philanthropic celebrities.
As of September 23rd, anyone seeking to support the cause can bid on the autographed bald caps on Be Bold, Be Bald!'s website. A few of this year's "Bold" celebrities include Celine Dion, Olivia Newton John, Kathy Bates, Joan Lunden and AnnaSophia Robb, among many others. Bidding starts at $25/cap.
Be Bold, Be Bald! participant registration is now open to the public. For a small fee of only $10, Bold participants can purchase a Bald Kit including a bald cap and fundraising materials. On the Day of Solidarity, participants bare their bald caps to show respect and solidarity for those losing their hair to cancer.
All funds raised from the celebrity cap auction and individual fundraising support over 40 local and national cancer organizations. New beneficiaries added this year include The Ted Mullin Fund, Sharsheret, Fair Haven Foundation and the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
To date, Be Bold, Be Bald! has raised over $750,000 for participating beneficiaries. 2014 marks the 6th anniversary of this growing organization and one of the boldest years yet!
About Be Bold, Be Bald!: Be Bold, Be Bald! was founded in honor of the late Mike Connell, co-founder and former Creative Principal of Boston-based advertising agency Small Army, in 2009 by friend and business partner, Jeff Freedman. Mike lost his 3rd battle with cancer after a heroic 2-year fight in 2007, leaving behind a wife and three children.
