Be a Part of History at the Newseum on Inauguration Day With Special Package
WASHINGTON, Nov. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Newseum, the only museum with a direct view of the inaugural parade route on historic Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C., is offering a special event package for Inauguration Day, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.
The Newseum's Inauguration Day Package will include events such as a live feed of the swearing-in ceremony on a 40-by-22-foot high-definition media screen, a welcome kit with commemorative merchandise and more. Visitors also will have full access to the Newseum's 15 exhibits and 15 theaters, including the election year exhibit "Every Four Years: Presidential Campaigns and the Press." Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
The Newseum will not be selling general admission tickets or group tickets on Inauguration Day, so the facility will be accessible only to Inauguration Day Package holders.
Doors will open for package holders at 9 a.m. on Inauguration Day and remain open until 5 p.m.
Inauguration Day Packages will go on sale to Press Pass annual members at 9 a.m. Nov. 8, 2012, and to the general public beginning at 9 a.m. Nov. 15, 2012. Packages may be purchased at newseum.org or at the Newseum admission desk for $100 per package. Children ages six and under will be allowed to enter at no charge.
The Newseum's prime location on Pennsylvania Avenue provides limited views of the West Front of the U.S. Capitol, where the swearing-in ceremony will take place. After the ceremony, the president is scheduled to pass directly in front of the Newseum as he makes his way from the Capitol to the White House.
The Newseum will be media central for the inauguration, hosting most major television news networks along with radio broadcasters, print reporters and photographers from a wide array of organizations.
The Newseum's terraces will be transformed into temporary television studios in order to accommodate the multiple live broadcasts and will not be open to the public.
Packages are valid for Inauguration Day only, and are nonrefundable. The event is expected to sell out.
