Alan E. London, MD, internationally recognized physician leader & expert to head Consumer and Digital Health practice; Craig Allan Ahrens to provide leadership in Physician Enterprise Strategy and Clinical Performance Improvement.
MIAMI, Jan. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rick Wesslund, Founder and Chairman of BDC Advisors, LLC, a national healthcare consulting firm, announced today that two leading healthcare experts have joined the firm as part of its planned growth for 2017. Alan E. London, MD, an internationally recognized physician leader and expert on the creation of retail and consumer healthcare businesses, who has been a Senior Advisor at the firm, has become a full-time Director. He will assume the lead role in building out BDC's Consumer and Digital Health and Organization Design & Development practices with a particular focus on large academic health systems. Craig Allan Ahrens has joined the firm as Director, providing leadership for the firm's Physician Enterprise Strategy and Clinical Performance Improvement consulting services. Prior to joining BDC, Craig was Senior Director of Health Solutions at FTI Consulting, a global consulting and business advisory firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., where he was a leader at the firm's physician enterprise, clinical integration, and MACRA strategy practices.
In welcoming both individuals Wesslund said, "We are delighted that Alan and Craig have decided to join BDC. BDC is growing and Alan and Craig's physician enterprise and business strategy experience will enhance our ability to serve our core academic medical health system clients, as well as strengthen our ability to help all provider systems chart a successful business strategy in this time of market disruption."
"For the past six months Alan has served as a Senior Advisor to BDC's consulting staff," said Wesslund. "He has made an outstanding contribution to our enterprise strategy work helping to lead several key engagements at large academic health systems. His business acumen and entrepreneurial experience working in complex organizations is exceptional, and we are delighted that Alan has decided to join us on a full-time basis." Wesslund observed that London's recent experience as Vice President, Strategic Clinical Partnerships for Walgreen Company, where he provided strategic direction and leadership for the expansion and clinical management of the company's retail and consumer healthcare business, provided him with unique business and consulting perspective that is well-suited to advising C-Suite executives in today's time of market uncertainty.
Prior to joining Walgreen, Alan was founder and president of London Group International, which he organized in 2007 to provide innovation healthcare solutions and business development options for health systems, insurers, governments, physicians groups, and the investment community. From 1995 to 2007, Alan served as Executive Director, Managed Care and then International Business Development at the Cleveland Clinic, and Chairman, Cleveland Clinic Health System Physician Organization. He was formerly Medical Director of Tenet Healthcare.
"We are delighted that Craig has decided to join BDC as well," added Wesslund. "BDC is a physician-centric strategy firm, and Craig's broad physician enterprise experience and business skills will enhance our ability to serve our core academic medical health system and children's hospital clients, as well as strengthen our ability to help large provider systems build high performing employed medical groups." Craig has 20 years of senior management consulting experience advising academic medical centers and healthcare systems' senior physician and executive leadership concerning their physician platform strategy, alignment, access, and operational/financial improvement issues.
