BDC Advisors' Director on How to Solve Primary Care Physician Shortage
Strategy can help public and safety-net hospitals struggling to provide accessible and affordable care
MIAMI, June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- BDC Advisors announced that David Fairchild, M.D., one of its senior directors, and Erik Dukes, M.D., a family medicine physician at North Mississippi Medical Center, Booneville, Mississippi have been selected to present at the Healthcare Financial Management Association's Annual National Institute June 25-28 in Orlando, Florida.
In their session "Partnering with Advanced Practice Clinicians to Address Primary Care Physicians Shortages," Fairchild and Dukes will show how, with BDC Advisors' strategy, North Mississippi Health Services effectively integrated Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) into a clinically integrated provider network (CIN) as part of a population health strategy to improve access and quality of care in northeast Mississippi, where the numbers of primary care physicians per capita is among the lowest in the nation.
With the United States facing a shortage of up to 30,000 primary care physicians by 2025, NMHS's CIN provides an important model for extending population health in rural areas with acute physician shortages. Further, Fairchild and Dukes will demonstrate how NMHS CIN strategy can be a useful addition to the playbooks of public and safety-net hospitals in urban makers, as they strive to provide accessible and affordable care to Medicaid, CHIP, and dual eligible populations. The session is Tuesday, June 27th at 2 p.m.
