BD is Awarded WindMade™ Certification; Ranks Among Top 40 U.S. Companies in Newsweek's 2012 Green Rankings
FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J., Oct. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE:BDX), a leading global medical technology company, today announced that it has received the WindMade™ label, a global consumer label for companies that use wind energy and other renewable energy sources. BD received the WindMade™ label for the Company's global operations, and certifies that 35% of BD's total electricity consumption is from wind power.
The label, which is backed by the UN Global Compact and conservation group WWF, requires participating companies to obtain at least 25% of their electricity from wind power.
Additionally, BD announced that it has ranked among the top 40 companies in Newsweek's fourth annual "Green Rankings" of the 500 largest U.S. corporations based on environmental footprint, management of that footprint, and transparency. BD ranked 32nd overall and 4th in the Healthcare sector.
