BBVA Compass will relocate its Mobile corporate offices to city's historic downtown
- Bank will lease three floors of 105-year-old RSA Van Antwerp building
- New space will house a retail branch, Commercial and Wealth Management officials
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass will relocate its Mobile, Ala., corporate offices to the city's historic downtown. The bank has signed a lease to occupy three floors and nearly 11,200 square feet of the 10-story RSA Van Antwerp building at 101 Dauphin St.
BBVA Compass will be the main tenant in the 105-year-old building. The structure is undergoing a complete renovation and BBVA Compass will move into the space in the summer of 2014.
"This location is more centralized and allows us to better serve our South Alabama market," said Mark Fillers, South Alabama market president for BBVA Compass. "We have long sought space in downtown Mobile and are proud to be a part of the city's revitalization."
The first floor of the Van Antwerp building will include a retail banking branch while Wealth Management officers and Commercial bankers will occupy the second and third floors.
The bank will continue operating a branch at its current corporate offices at 321 Bel Air Blvd.
BBVA Compass is the second-largest bank in the Mobile area based on deposits. The bank operates 17 branches in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
