BBVA Compass treats community groups to holiday reception

LAREDO, Texas, Dec. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass and BBVA Compass Foundation held a holiday reception Wednesday to express appreciation for the 20 community organizations they work with to build a better Laredo.

"At BBVA Compass, our mission is to work for a better future for all people and we couldn't do it without the help of these local organizations," said Susana Valencia, BBVA Compass Laredo city president. "It's hugely rewarding for us to see our donations being used to help provide financial education, food and housing assistance and other services to needy members of our community."

The bank's charitable arm, BBVA Compass Foundation, has provided donations in the last year to Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, South Texas Food Bank, Casa Misericordia, Boys and Girls Clubs of Laredo, United Way, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Children's Advocacy Center of Laredo-Webb County.

About 200 people attended the festivities at the downtown Laredo BBVA Compass office.
