BBVA Compass relocates its Beaumont corporate offices to historic downtown
- New space houses a retail branch, Commercial bankers and Global Wealth officers
- Renovated building is part of downtown business district the city has been revitalizing
HOUSTON, Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass has relocated its Beaumont corporate offices to a building the bank owns in the city's historic downtown.
BBVA Compass moved into the space at 700 Calder Ave. at the end of 2014 after the two-story structure underwent a complete renovation. The bank's building, which sits squarely at the main entrance of downtown, is another example of the effort to make the city's core a better place to live and work.
"This location is more centralized and allows us to better serve our East Texas market," said Will Leonard, Beaumont city president for BBVA Compass. "As a native of Beaumont, I'm proud to see our bank be a part of the city's revitalization efforts."
Beaumont's private and public entities have focused on restoring and renovating downtown-area buildings and infrastructure since 1992. So far, they've invested more than $200 million in the effort, according to Carolyn Howard, executive director of Beaumont Main Street, a nonprofit organization dedicated to renovating the East Texas city's business district.
BBVA Compass' new building, which the bank has owned for several years, houses a retail banking branch as well as Global Wealth officers and Commercial bankers. The bank operates 18 branches in East Texas, including five in Beaumont and other cities in the Golden Triangle area.
