BBVA Compass executive named to Houston Business Journal's '40 Under 40' list
-- Architect led the design of the bank's new open workspace in Houston
-- Publication received 400 nominations for annual honor
HOUSTON, Nov. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Andres Cueto, BBVA Compass' director of new distribution models, has been selected as a member of the Houston Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Class of 2013.
Cueto, 39, was recognized in part for his work as the bank's architect for BBVA Compass Plaza, the 22-story tower that opened earlier this year in Houston's Galleria area. In lieu of traditional offices, the building boasts modern, innovative open workspaces that encourage collaboration. Cueto is now in charge of helping to bring that level of innovation out to the bank's network of retail branches.
"Andres was instrumental in delivering on our vision of creating a workspace where employees could be mobile and collaborate in different settings," said Troy Lindsey, director of real estate for BBVA Compass. "He reinvented our corporate spaces and now he's helping us reinvent our retail spaces."
The Mexico City native also volunteers for several Houston arts, business and civic organizations. His inclusion in the 40 Under 40 Class of 2013 underscores the growing role played by BBVA Compass employees in the communities the bank serves.
Now in its fifth year, the Houston Business Journal's designation is bestowed upon young professionals who contribute to their companies, industries and communities in an impressive way. Its panel of judges received almost 400 applications before selecting the 40 honorees.
The list of 39 other winners can be found on the Houston Business Journal website.
