BBVA Compass Announces Alliance With WNBA Phoenix Mercury

PHOENIX, June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass announced today that it has signed a multi-year marketing agreement with the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury. BBVA Compass has 78 banking centers in the Greater Phoenix metropolitan area and is the fifth largest bank in Arizona based on deposit market share. With operations throughout seven states in the Sunbelt Region, BBVA Compass ranks among the top-20 largest financial institutions in the United States.

As part of the agreement with the Mercury, an all-female BBVA Compass Business Leadership Board comprised of successful women who have supported and mentored other business women will be created. Two of the women from the new BBVA Compass Business Leadership Board will be recognized for their influential work in the community – one during halftime at the Mercury's July 15 game and the second at the August 7 game.

Additionally, BBVA Compass will host a financial literacy program with the Mercury's Adopt-a-Team prior to a home game on August 11. Through the BBVA Compass financial literacy program, a high school girls' basketball team will learn the importance of financial responsibility. The program will take business lessons learned in the world of sports and apply them to everyday life situations, such as financial discipline, budgeting and balancing a checkbook.
