BB&T gives 12 ACC fans all-expense-paid trip for two to ACC Tournament; one could win $1 million
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., March 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Twelve lucky basketball fans will enjoy an all-expense-paid trip for two to the 2011 ACC Basketball Tournament. One of those fans could walk away a millionaire. BB&T, the official bank of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), is sponsoring the Million Dollar Bank Shot Challenge at the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C., March 10-13.
"The challenge offers an opportunity for 12 ACC fans to enjoy four days of exciting conference championship basketball. Two of those fans will be chosen to compete for a chance to win $1 million," said Pete Zifchak, BB&T Sports Marketing and Event Planning manager. "BB&T is pleased to be part of the super-charged atmosphere of the most exciting conference basketball tournament in the country."
During regular season ACC play, basketball fans were encouraged to register at BBT.com/ACC and declare an ACC school to represent. On Feb. 16, a random drawing was held to select 12 contestants who will receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to the tournament.
The lucky fans from North Carolina and the ACC schools they will represent are:
Don Laliberty, Summerfield, N.C., Boston College
Kevin Muller, Charlotte, N.C., Clemson
Jeremy Ruff, Cary, N.C., North Carolina State
Michael Greenburg, Chapel Hill, N.C., Duke
On Thursday, March 10, during halftime of game four between Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech, the pool will be narrowed to two finalists through a random drawing. The two finalists will compete in the Million Dollar Bank Shot Challenge during halftime of game seven between Duke and the winner of the Maryland/NC State game on Friday, March 11. The finalists will attempt to make three consecutive bank shots from the college three-point range. The successful finalist will take home $1 million.
"The ACC tournament is thrilling in and of itself. To give 12 fans and their guests this exciting opportunity to experience championship basketball at its best and for two of them to compete for a chance to win $1 million is icing on the cake," Zifchak said.
