HUNTSVILLE, Ala., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Intergraph® announces the partnership agreement between Bayer Technology Services GmbH, the technology backbone of the Bayer Group, and Intergraph which forms the basis for a Partner Community in Germany. The goal of the Partner Community is to supply a standardized piping environment for the German chemical process industry for all piping disciplines and to provide consistent piping data on the basis of PAS and EN codes by using a professional management system. This will ensure crucial time savings and improved safety for all partners. Many well-known companies active in the respective industries have shown interest in the project and some of them have agreed to the conditions in principal already.

SmartPlant Reference Data, a pre-configured, best-practice solution enables rapid implementation and materials management. The pre-defined Partner Community database content minimizes the effort required to define items, descriptions and dimensions that satisfy requirements throughout various phases of a project by delivering a comprehensive range of commodity codes used to uniquely describe materials through a project life cycle, while employing sophisticated and exhaustive rules to maintain material descriptions. All piping standards provided are in compliance with EN 13480. Partners can leverage links to all established CAE systems, ranging from SmartPlant 3D, PDS® and PDMS to CADWorx® Plant Professional and SmartPlant Isometrics, while benefiting from smoother collaboration between all project stakeholders.
Manual data transfer between the client, the piping engineer and the construction team almost inevitably involves mistakes, which can be costly, time-consuming, and hazardous. SmartPlant Reference Data provides materials libraries at the corporate and project level and enables better standardization and change management. A company may access, via the web, a SmartPlant Reference Data database located at a single location from any other company office around the world. SmartPlant Reference Data enables corporate and project independent material data standardization, especially of bulk material.
Users may organize and reuse data according to international (i.e., ANSI, ISO, DIN) or corporate standards. Interfaces also enable data to be fed into design systems such as Plant Design System (SEBY151/428) with relevant, standardized project data, eliminating duplicated effort. The integration performs the relevant project set-up work in the user-friendly SmartPlant Reference Data environment and then uses this solution as the single point of data entry.
Gunter Mauss, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine vice president, said, "With new EN codes and improved, powerful 3D systems on the market, we feel that this agreement comes exactly at the right time. By creating this level of standardization, we are able to provide an environment that offers substantial benefits for all parties involved. Workflows can be streamlined, purchasing costs can be reduced, and there is no need to re-invent the wheel with every project by creating new piping specifications. Intergraph is delighted to work with Bayer Technology Services on this important project."
